Building an audit and inspection program in Intelex

An audit and inspection program fails in a predictable way. Somebody builds one checklist, uses it for both, and eighteen months later cannot answer the question the executive asks: is the program working? The records are fine. The reporting is unusable, because audits and inspections were never the same measurement and the configuration pretended they were.

The distinction drives the question types, the scoring, the recurrence basis and where findings go. In Intelex it also decides which module you belong in, because Audit Management and Inspections Management share a checklist engine but not a data model.

What is the difference between an audit and an inspection?

An audit tests a system against a standard. An inspection tests a physical condition against a specification.
